On November 8th, 2024, my friend Sigrid Harmon (The Asthmatic) and I went on a road trip! We joined Zane Kanevsky and E. Jason Gibbs (both also based in Portland), as well as the New London Drone Orchestra, for a Maine-forward show in the basement of Matt, Kirsten, and Ernie's lovely home in Hamden, Connecticut. Visiting Matt Wellins is always one of the warmest, most joyful experiences I have, and it was a lot of fun to see worlds collide and, of course, to play with Sigrid. Attached is a recording of our set.
In this recording, Sigrid is performing vocals, and I am working with a feedback loop consisting of a transducer-exciter, a tom drum, an Electro-Voice 635 dynamic microphone, and a Max patch that, among other things, modulates a low-pass filter applied to the microphone signal (see Feedback Drum). At times, I am also bowing the drum head, and at times, Sigrid is vocalizing into the drum.
Sigrid and my duo (rather uncreatively named Harmonbraun) has been very fun and hopefully, this recording will not be the end!
